TRABZON

Northeastern Turkey's Black Sea coast is home to the city of Trabzon. Hagia Sophia, a building in the city that was originally constructed as a church in the 13th century, is now a mosque with ceiling frescoes that have been restored. The Trabzon Turkey Museum chronicles the history of the city through archaeological and ethnographic exhibitions, housed in a rococo and art-nouveau mansion from the early 20th century. With the exception of a brief Russian occupation (1916–18) during World War I, Trabzon has been under Turkish control since 1461.

Much of Trabzon's mediaeval character is still present today. With the ruins of an old Roman harbour at its foot, the city's centre is situated on a triangle of tableland wedged between two deep ravines. Ruined citadel is located at its southernmost point. Byzantine-era walls surround the centre of the city on the east and west. East of the mediaeval Genoese castle of Leontocastron, where the harbour is located, the city's commercial district is centred on a bazaar and park.

The majority of the city walls, a section of the Grand Comneni palace, and a number of Byzantine churches that have been converted to mosques are examples of historical monuments. The church Aya Sofya (Hagia Sophia), which overlooks the sea just west of the city centre, is among the best preserved and most interesting of the churches. It is presently operated as a museum. The church is a domed basilica with magnificent wall paintings from the 13th century that were discovered and cleaned between 1957 and 1963. The mosque and mausoleum of Gülbahar, the wife of Sultan Bayezid II, are among the best Ottoman structures

Forum Trabzon Shopping Centre

The Forum Trabzon Shopping Center expands the retail options in the developing Turkish city of Trabzon. It was made possible thanks to our engineering and architectural know-how.

The center's hypermarket, fashion retailers, department stores, electronic stores, and sports stores draw customers from nearby towns and cities because of its convenient waterfront position. Meanwhile, celebrations, concerts, marketplaces, and sporting activities are held in the public area's breathtaking scenery.

It's equally breathtaking to watch the rotating lighthouse illumination inside the mall and through the skylights in the food court. Without causing ships and aircraft to deviate, the illumination system is designed to provide tourists with a genuine lighthouse experience.

Customers can see the sky; less energy is used for lighting because of the large skylights that let daylight into the mall's interior sections.
